Prevent my phone from being locked of multiple password attempts

It already happened three times. My Motorola XT890 locked itself from being kept in the pocket trying to guess a password, ending up with the 'too many password attempts' screen and requiring Internet connection to get unlocked via a Google Account.

The problem is that if there's no Internet connection, the system won't offer a standard way of activate it and authenticate, leaving us to a factory reset and some other complicated ways to bypass this problem.

How can I prevent this from happening again? I ask in terms of what I can do when the phone is unlocked and usable.

Transfer root to SDcard with switch_root didn't work

I'm trying to install Debian on the Android 4.4 (modded with cyanogenmod) that's installed on my nexus 10 to one external sd card. I'm reading this tutorial :

http://ift.tt/1iiwWx8

I've attached the Leef microSD microUSB Connector with a 64GB sd card inside to the mini usb port of my nexus 10 as you can see here :

nexus 10 with leef connector + 64GB sd card

The tutorial talks about the The ASUS Transformer TF101 and the instructions are based on this tablet. Instead I have a tablet nexus 10,that's equipped with an internal sd card where I have installed android 4.4 + cyanogenmod. For this reason I need to know how to change some part of the tutorial to adapt it to my situation. Anyway on my desktop computer I have partitioned the sd card in this way :

Disk /dev/sdf: 64.0 GB, 64021856256 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 7783 cylinders, total 125042688 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x0004504c

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdf1 2048 32767999 16382976 b W95 FAT32
/dev/sdf2 32768000 125042687 46137344 83 Linux

My nexus 10 recognizes the sd card as sda2. I have mounted it giving the following commands :

mount -o rw,remount /
mkdir /mnt/deb
mount -t ext4 /dev/block/sda2 /mnt/deb

So,now the sd card is mounted on /mnt/deb. Let's go on the section of the tutorial where I'm freezed. It says that I have to transfer root to sdcard giving the following command :

exec /sbin/busybox switch_root /mnt/root /etc/init

Since my busybox is located inside the folder /system/xbin/ and I have mounted the sdcard into the folder /mnt/deb and I have the file init inside / and not in the folder /etc,I have changed the command above with this :

exec /system/xbin/busybox switch_root /mnt/deb /init,

but this is the error that I get :

switch_root command error

but where is the mistake ? the tutorial says to mount the /proc and /sys filesystems, but they are already mounted on the / folder of my tablet if I don't go wrong, because the nexus 10 has an internal sd card and android is installed there. So,please can you help me ? thanks.

Android phone is not booting

I wanted to install a custom ROM on my phone. When I was doing this I accidentally formatted the phone by clicking Format option in SP tools. Now phone is not booting. After this I tried to do the FIRWARE-->UPGRADE option. But it is not working. It shows an error "VRAM read failed". My device is having mtk6589 chipset. Please help me to solve this.

how do I take files off a broken phone

My screen broke and I can't unlock my phone. Is there a way to plug in my phone to a pc and unlock the phone/files like there is with blackberry?

ROM on android phones isn't really "read only"... right?

I see the word ROM and internal memory used interchangeably in the context of Android phones. The OS seems to be stored in the internal memory itself, which is also used for installing applications. Which implies that it is not "read only".

So, just to clear my confusion, am I correct in understanding that in Android phones the OS is stored in the internal memory and word "ROM" is used for "historic" reasons, since ROM is where firmwares on non-Android phone were/are otherwise commonly installed?

phone doesn't boot after installing launcher

I just installed Turbo Launcher on my android device. When i activated it, my screen was black. I couldn't do anything. I thought rebooting could fix it, so i rebooted my phone. But... my phone doesn't even start anymore! It's just staying on my loading screen. Nothing happens, it's just starting up forever. This happened about an hour ago, and my phone is still starting up! I think it will never start again! I also can't turn my phone off anymore (because it's starting up)

So my question: what can i do about it? Is there a way to reset my phone or something? Thanks a lot!

cannot open google now

I have Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus(GT-I9105) with rooted stock android 4.1.2.

So I thought of replacing touchwiz with Google Now Launcher. So, I installed Google Now from Play store. When I try to open it, It gives a message

"Touchwiz Home is currently your default launcher, go to settings, touch Clear Defaults and press the Home Button."

The problem is Touchwiz is not set to default (the button is disabled) as it is the only launcher I have.

Pressing Home button doesn't show Google Now Launcher. I installed other launchers, and they work fine.Only Google Now has the problem. Is it a bug? Anything I should do?
