How do I replace the Launcher in a CyanogenMod(CM) 11 ZIP ROM?

I wanted to replace the default launcher in a CM11 ZIP ROM with another(Yahoo Aviate) by deleting Trebuchet.apk and replacing it with aviate.apk but after flashing the ROM it doesn't launch and causes a SystemUI crash leaving me with blank screen with only notification drag down
