Can the previous apk overwrite the current apk in Android

Suppose the new Version of apk of any project is currently Installed on the Android Phone but If I want to Install my previous apk on the phone.In that case what will happen it will update the Previous build or Shows error. If Update the Previous build then the only showing that specific things or Include the things of Latest build. Please answer.
