Disabling Error Code 67 for unactivated phone?

I replaced my phone, and was thinking of using my old phone in wifi mode for the kids to watch videos or play games. But after activating the replacement phone, the old one (an LG Mach) keeps popping up an alert:

"Error Code 67"

which explains itself as

"Unable to establish wireless data connection. Please select Update Profile to correct this problem. If the problem persists, please contact your mobile phone company"

which I presume is all a fancy way of saying your phone is no longer activated for service through Sprint (totally expected, right). But is there a way to make it stop notifying me about this every 5 minutes? I don't think I want to turn on airplane mode because I do want to use wifi still. But I'm not planning on reactivating that old phone anytime soon.
