Swapping Android S3 phones [on hold]

I want to switch to a deactivated Galaxy S3 since mine is broken. Both phones are Galaxy S3s and have Verizon sim cards. Can I remove the Sim card from my phone and install it into the deactivated phone and have it operate with my phone number and my existing Verizon plan?
