Can my Galaxy Note 4's fingerprint scanner work like the one on the Galaxy S6 with a software update?

The Galaxy Note 4's fingerprint scanner is very annoying because you have to swipe over it in order to unlock it. But, I liked the way Samsung implemented it in the Galaxy S6 (like TouchID on the iPhone). All I need to know is that is there a hardware difference between the 2 devices or is it a mere software thing that can be fixed with a firmware update?
