Replacement app for reading Gmail without Conversation View

I'm trying to help my sister who has a Gmail account that she wants to read on her Galaxy S5 (with the standard T-Mobile Android install). She has the "standard" Gmail app, but it looks like there's no way to turn off Conversation View (sometimes called "threaded", but I guess that's not exactly accurate) in the app. (You can turn it off on the Gmail Web interface, but not the app)

So we're looking for either

• Some magic way to make the Gmail app turn off Conversation View, or


• An alternative email app client that won't use Conversation View.

Any suggestions?
