My device has no power button so can only be turned off at the mains. Will this cause damage?

It is a rooted Android TV box. If I turn it off using an app, it effectively becomes a restart becomes it comes back on immediately if power is attached. I am worried I am going to damage the device (e.g corrupt files in the flash memory etc) if I keep turning it off at the mains.
