USB tethring and battery damage

I am using my lenovo a269i as personal hot spot for tethering mobile Data through USB to my laptop for long hours as a result the battery is overcharged.can it cause damaging the battery or some accident like battery exploded due to overcharge.is it possible to stop charging through USB in this phone.phone specification are Android v2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system with 1GHz MT6572 dual core processor, 256MB RAM
