Refreshing Cursor Adapter

i add an imageView to a listview using a cursor custom cursorAdapter but i can't scroll the list such that the images loaded from a remote url maintain/keep their downloaded images. Everytime, the imageViews from the Adapter layout keep reverting to their default image content instead of keeping the image downloaded from a remote server. sometimes the image view just disapears. I need help with this. i have tried just creating a new image view and adding it to the root of the main item for each cursor data but instead , we get multiple views for each layout when the list is scrolled.
