The computer found my phone as adb device but not in adb shell

I recently installed adb and all drivers to rescue my dead phone. I finally found the appropriate drivers and got adb to work, it detected my phone as "015d2995140fee12_PTPADB device" which doesnt seem like an ordinary serial code but I thought it might work. Then when I typed in adb shell and I did operations, it told me device not found. I guess this might be a driver problem, but I really want someone to help me.
