Will applying update from ADB improve my daughter's Alcatel One Touch Fierce 2's performance?

I bought my daughter an Alcatel One Touch Fierce 2 Android phone just before Christmas not even a week went by and the screen became unresponsive. It switches pages at random, the screen freezes almost every other usage. Its a metro pcs pphone. I really need help correcting this problem asap please.
