Apps installing improperly on second user account on Samsung Tab Pro 8.4 tablet

I have a Samsung Tab Pro 8.4 running Android 4.4.2. I have setup two user accounts for myself and my wife. We've been primarily using the main "owner" account with great success installing apps from Google Play, side loading (the Amazon App Store), and apps from the Amazon App Store.

Today I logged into the secondary account, which is associated with my wife's Google account. I tried installing IMDB from the Play store and it acted like it had installed, but the "installation" seemed instant instead of taking the usual handful of seconds. Then when I opened the app, it immediately force closed. After that I repeatedly got messages stating the IMDB had stopped working until I cleared it from memory in the App Switcher.

Next I attempted to install the Amazon App Store. This behaved similarly, it "installed" instantly, but then failed to open.

Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed?

The next idea I have is to try setting up a 3rd account to see whether the 2nd account is corrupted or something, but I don't have the time to try it right now.
