I am using Xperia L, If i used 3G connection in one place then i moved to other place if 3G connection is not available means my phone not changed to 2G connection, i set network setting mode is WCDMA/GSM. I accedently formatted my memory card which had the database folder of whatsapp which had the last backup of my messages .... Now how can I get all my messages back ?? is there an online backup of my messages ?? Is there a way to get the messages back or should I stop searching for solutions since there is no backup in the sd card nor phone ...
Whenever I try to turn on my WiFi, it shows Turning Wi-Fi on but automatically turns off. I have not recently installed any app, and earlier it used to work absolutely fine. I even tried doing a factory reset, but it's still not working. Not sure whether it's a software or hardware issue.

When the device is set to use MTP, neither Windows, nor ADB will detect the device when connect via USB cable. I have tried multiple cables, in multiple USB ports. I have not tried other computers yet, as this is the only one that actually has the driver installed.

No one, except me, has reported this as an issue in the XDA thread.
I have been unable to get my PC to detect the device via USB since I first installed CM12, which was around 11/10/2015.
If i change to PTP, Windows will detect the device, as will ADB. But Windows will only let me access the internal storage, and Camera folders.
In the knowledge base of the Vaulty app to answer this question: Is Vaulty safe? they say that they modify the files and the files are safe.
I wonder if Vaulty is really safe and specifically whether this app uses AES encryption or not?
In my Nexus 5 with android 5.1 I had switched to guest user and had taken some photos. Than I switched back to my admin user. A day after I switched back to guest user to get those photos and started a new session instead of continuing the previous session and I lost all my photos. I know starting a new session would have deleted all data of previous guest user as it is temporary data..however is there any way I can recover those photos deleted from guest account.
I've tried everthing that I can think of to try and root my razr droid maxx hd verizon phone. Towel root, sunshine, and can't even remember all of the othes to try a root it. Nothing works ! It's running 4.4.2
With a HTTP sniffer I have found out that the FOTA update client on my CAT B15Q (Android 4.4.2, app "com.fw.upgrade") contacts the URL "http://ift.tt/1zSCY1M" with a POST payload containing IMEI, serial number, SIM number and GSM network operator.
It gets returned a session ID and a "random" value, which is then apparently used in the request to "http://ift.tt/1vHwix5" to compute the "token" value (the token must be "valid" or the server throws a "token invalid" error).
The question is now, how is this "token" value computed? The responsible function in HttpManager apparently calls getInt("randomToken") on a sharedPreferences object obtained by paramContext.getSharedPreferences("fota", 1);.
However, in /data/data/com.fw.upgrade there is no shared_preferences xml file... so how do I find out where this token value is computed?

How do I send multiple pics via email on my Android Samsung S5? It says only 10 pics can be sent... when they are attached and emailed... recieve error 'failed' as a result in the outbox. Is there a setting that needs to be turned on and if so where?
I've found that the Android simulator in Eclipse eats up my hard drive. I use an app to monitor my hard drive use, and I've found that when I start it up, it uses about 150MB of space on my hard drive while it's running. When I shut it down, I usually get that space back. However, if I have to close it due to it hanging or something else it will sometimes not give me all the storage back.
As an example, I was just using it and had to open 2 instances due to the first instance not working. When I closed Eclipse and closed all the instances of the simulator, I was not able to recover 100MB of data from the simulator. The simulator (and Eclipse) was the only application running on my computer, my computer was not connected to the internet for the duration of my use of the simulator (I had the Wifi card turned off), and this only happens when I use the simulator, so I doubt it's malware or a virus (plus I use a Mac, which makes it even less likely).
How can I clean up the disk space used by the simulator? My hard drive is not that big, so if it costs 100MB of space every time I use the simulator it will kill my hard drive very quickly.

I know that long-pressing power + volume down hardware buttons for a second or so on any screen takes a screenshot - I was hoping to bind an action to the power + volume up combination (specifically I was hoping to make it take a photo without having to open the camera app).
I've looked at a few apps that I thought might do it but they all seem to only allow for remapping of individual hardware buttons/long-presses of individual buttons, not assigning an action to a hardware key combination like this.
I'm currently using cyanogenmod 11 with xposed installed, so an answer requiring either or both would work (although I didn't see any options in cyanogen or modules in xposed that would do this).

i have just recently got a thomson tablet for christmas after having it all set up it worked great for a couple of days when i turned it on a couple of days ago it booted up great until i got to the lock screen the a message saying android is upgrading starting apps came up when the slide screen appeared again after 2 seconds it jumped back to the android word logo and has been doing that for three days now. every now and then it will bring up an error message saying "unfortunately the process.com.android.phone has stopped working"how do i fix this please help.
I connected a Nexus 7 (rooted Android 4.4.2) to my laptop (Windows 7 SP1 x64 Ultimate). I see Nexus 7 in Windows Explorer and can browse the files in the Nexus 7, but when I tried to move files from Nexus to Windows I get the following error from Windows Explorer:
Reconnecting the Nexus 7 didn't help. Restarting Windows 7 did solve the issue, but I'm curious to know what can caused this error.
I have a galaxy s4. I had the screen locked with a pattern. My 1year old daughter got a hoed of my phone and after the 5 incorrect patterns it asked for the pin. I entered the pin incorrectly 5 times so it asked me to wait 30 secs before trying again. Now I have the bar that says type pin code but when I tap the bar to type it in the keyboard does not pop up as usual so how do get the keyboard to pop up to enter the pin. I have tried restarting the phone, by pressing restart and shutting down and powering back up the phone and taking out the battery.
Here's my problem, a short time ago I decided to install the cyanogenmod Rom on my phone, so following the advices I read on the web I first backed up my data (using Samsung Kies and MyPhoneExplorer) and the original Rom (using Recovery ClockWork) - the last failed without I noticed it - and then I installed the CyanogenMod one (7.2.0). Now everything works well but restoring my datas I realised the Samsung Kies software can't see my phone anymore and then my memos can't be restored (it's the only data that I didn't backup by MyPhoneExplorer). I googled a lot to find a way to at least read my memo (saved in a *.smm file) but seems to be impossible except with Kies. So now I would like to revert my phone's Rom -which seems to be the only solution- but I don't have the original one and I didn't find any on the web.

I just rooted my Moto G 2014 XT1064 running 5.0.1.
I used this article to do the root process: http://ift.tt/1y7TZo3 Which evolved unlocking the bootloader (which caused data to be erased, of course), installing TWRP, then copying SuperSU.zip over adb, then going back to TWRP recovery and installing SuperSU through TWRP.
Since then, /sdcard seems to be acting like its mounted as read only. I cannot seem to get anything written to it. I've tried to adb push files to /sdcard, but I keep getting the same "Permission denied" error. Taking screenshots don't work either, I get a "Couldn't capture screenshot" error. And I've also noticed the Twitter app is unable to display profile pictures nor pictures inside of tweets.
I've tried numerous things, but I'm stumped.
I've tried to see if its mounted as read only. Via adb shell, and su to get root, and mount to view the mounted file systems. Everything dealing with /sdcard, /storage/emulated/legacy, and /data/media are all mounted as rw (Read & Write, of course).
Remounting them doesn't produce any errors, but has no effect.
The file system for /sdcard seems to be just fine, as I can adb shell in, and use ls /sdcard/, from either regular shell or root. And via TWRP, it was able to successfully save a recovery.log to the /sdcard/ file system, indicating nothing should be preventing things from being written to the file system.
I am also unable to copy files to it via Windows, it tells me "Cannot copy [file name] ... The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected", and OS X still doesn't seem to recognize it at all despite installing drivers from Motorola, which has happened before I rooted it.
What I found particularly weird is that I can download and install apps still. I installed a root checker app just after rooting it, and it worked, and I wanted to screenshot it, and then I noticed the issues happening.
And I've even tried a free app from Google Play which uses SuperUser permissions and attempts to fix the sdcard file system and make it mount right. Still, I am unable to write anything to it.
I've also tried to see if restarting adbd as root via the 'adb root' command would work, only to be disappointed because it doesn't work on production phones, despite my phone already being rooted.
I'm pretty new to android in general, including rooting, but I've definitely gotten a good feel for how it works, when I installed 5.0.1 onto it a few days ago (It came with 4.4.4 and didn't have an OTA update yet). But now I'm really confused about why this happened after I rooted, and after a bunch of googling to find nothing helpful, I have to ask here.
Any suggestions?
Edit: Just to be clear, Settings also reports I have 2.4 GB available space, and the file I am trying to copy over is far less than that.
I have a Sony Xperia M2 (not rooted, on stock 4.3 Jellybean). When installing some apps, I noticed they won't respond to touches. After installing a few more apps it became apparent that the apps that didn't respond to touches all used OpenGL. Other apps work perfectly, but ones with OpenGL get stuck.
The apps aren't frozen because any background animations they have still work fine.
With developer mode visual touch feedback enabled, my touches show up on screen, so I know android still registers them.
What's going on, and how do I fix this?
Also, will updating to KitKat affect this in any way?

I have a Android Matricom G-Tab Quantum Tablet with 1gb internal Memory (tablet and system Space) and a 16 gb internal storage.
I was running out of space in the 1gb memory and since android doesnt use the interal storage just for pics and videos I decided to partion it so I could move with link2sd some apps.
I partioned the 16gb interal storage using MiniTool Partition wizard like this:
The partition were done correctly but when my tablet tried to read the internal sd it didnt show 8gbs as I spected. It only showed 363 mb. So I connected back the sd to pc,I run diskpart and "supposedly" clean all the partition from the sd card and in the process deleting any partion and restoring back its original size and everthing and format it as fat32.
The pc show that the sd card has a fat32 partition of 8gb and it lists 8gb as the whole space of the sd card so its missing the space from the ext4 partition but when I open the Minitool Partition wizard it only displays the 8gb fat32 partition as the "whole" space and only partition of the sdcard no signs of the ext4 partition(or it's space)
I put the sdcard on a Linux based system too look for the ext4 partition but with no effort Gported only shows the fat32 partition just like Minitool Partition Wizard!
Also everytime from then I connect the tablet to the pc it also reads a second disk of 1kb but you cant open it or format it! I'm suspecting this has something to do but I dont know what do with it!
Now in the tablet it only display the 363 mb as internal storage but I cant seem to access it from anywhere I dont know where this 363 partition cames from. If I put files on the 8gb partition I cant access them on the device! and If I boot to recovery (Stock android recovery) And try to open a file from the "internal Sd card" it says: "Cant mount /sdcard" and if I insert an external sd card I can only access it from the recovery but from the device it always shows the 363mb as the only storage.
I also noted if I open the storage folder with a rooted file explorer It reads the next folders: Sdcard0,Sdcard1,Sdcard2,extsd,usbhost.
and I remember that before all of this happened the sdcard2 folder didnt exist.
I have tried the next apps to "restore" my internal sd card back to its full size but none of them have work:
Its important to know that when I open Mini Tool Partition Master and the Tablets is connected now it crashes. If you Open it without the tha tablet connected its starts fine, after it starts you connect the tablet to the pc and refresh the device list and it loads the fat32 8g disk and also load the 1kb with no partition disk, if you click the 1kb disk it crashes and closes abruptly!
I also tried a bit of testdisk but I dont uderstand that much that appliacation supposedly it restored my partition table but I cant see diference.

This icon appears seemingly at random, especially on my lock screen but not always. I can almost guarantee it pops up if I make a screenshot but I am not sure. I am on an LG Volt phone from Boost Mobile, and I was able to (finally) screenshot this icon after wondering about it for over a month.

Imagine your device is hacked and you want to turn it off now (because of it is using network in bad manner), but the rootkit blocked all functions.
How do I forcibly turn off the device? I've tried holding the power button and the devide said it will reboot instead of shutting down.
I have a Verizon LG G2 (VS980) updated to Android 4.4.2, which I always keep on vibrate mode.
However, every day, at exactly 3 PM, without fail, it turns itself from vibrate back to sound. It doesn't matter whether or not it's charging, if it's on wi-fi or data, or anything else.
Any idea what may be causing this, or how I could fix it?
I bought my kiddo a Kindle Fire HD 7 Kids Edition for a present. I've set it up with a child profile and an adult profile. My problem is that no matter what settings I change, it always asks for the adult password when we tap the Wifi button when using the kids profile. Since the device is fairly non-functional without wifi, this is going to be a big problem when kiddo visits the other parent.

I'm at a loss for what other settings to try changing, or if there is a way to make it ask for the parental controls password instead. It seems like it should ask for it by default, but it only accepts the lockscreen password for the adult profile. Which is really not in any way ok when she visits the other parent.

Unfortunately My android phone Sony Xperia Go with got locked. I gave this to a friend for use and he gave this to his friend. Now the problem is no one have any idea which gmail account is linked to this. Neither any one is taking the responsibility... well that's other problem.

I was unable to use my password protection on this app. I foolishly stopped and cleared.data under the apps setting thinking it would allow me to access my needed memo. Is there a way to get the memo data back as I seemed to have cleared everything?
I have had a few errors on my phone that generate error messages that name the app that failed – but the error message dialog box names the failed app by process name, not by the app's common name.
To clarify with an example, I asked "Unfortunately, the process com.sec.ims.android has stopped." What does this error message mean? a couple of days ago. The error message said that "com.sec.ims.android" was the process that failed, but that name doesn't make it very obvious that it's a pre-installed Samsung app, let alone indicate what pre-installed Samsung app it was.
So, is there some list that explains the process names like this?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. My daughter just got a Dragon Touch tablet for Christmas, but we don't have wifi. I want to move the games that I've downloaded on my phone for her onto her tablet. She's six years old and driving me crazy wanting some games on this tablet. I moved the apps from my phone's device storage to a mini sd card. The tablet shows that the appropriate amount of space is used on the SD card, but I can't seem to figure out how to open the apps or transfer them from the sd card to the tablet. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Or am I trying to do something that just is not possible? Clearly I don't know a whole lot about technology. Please help.

I know this is nitpicky, but it's been a long battle and I am losing it.
For some time, I have been annoyed with the fact that you can't customize the android camera app's naming convention. My workaround, since the dawn of Dropbox camera upload, has been to use dropbox to upload and rename my photos (yyyy-mm-dd HH.nn.ss.jpg) and then use dropsync to overwrite the original file in my camera photo.
The problem I'm facing at the moment is that the camera in the hangouts app does not follow the same rules as the default camera app for my phone (Sony Xperia z3) so I end up with duplicates in my gallery of any image I happened to capture using hangouts instead of the camera. I could use the camera to take a picture and then share it using hangouts, but I decided instead to play around with Tasker and try to automate consolidating my images. (Another gripe I have is that Dropbox won't let me exclude folders, so I'd like to get rid of Camera Upload altogether and not have every screenshot I've ever taken backed up forever).
The directory for the default camera is [internal storage]/DCIM/100ANDRO and for hangouts it is [internal storage]/DCIM/Camera
I have a profile (below) triggered by the "file modified" event that will move the new file in the "Camera" folder into the "DCIM" folder. However, there is often a race condition, so Dropbox will upload the image before it is moved and again after. So my problem of duplicate images is not yet solved.
I'd like to forgo the Dropbox/Dropsync combo and instead use Tasker to rename a file as it is added to either of the camera folders. I'd like to use the same naming convention that Dropbox uses, but I can't figure out how Tasker can access the EXIF data from the image to rename the photo to something like "2014-12-30 10.23.56.jpg".
So, as a tl;dr: I am using Tasker to move images captured from different apps into a common folder. Can anyone help me add a step to rename the file I am moving based on the date and time the image was captured?
I have a Moto G2, and I want to be able to pick up the phone use voice commands to add to an existing list without having to press any buttons (besides for unlock). For example, I want to be able to say "add milk to shopping list".
Preferably it should be adding to evernote, but any list would be fine.
Currently I need to open up evernote, open up the specific note, press on the edit button, scroll to the bottom of the list and then type (or dictate).
Google Now's "note to self" feature doesn't help me because it creates a new note every time, and I want to work with an existing list.

I want to install apps on internal sd card but instead all apps get installed on phone storage which is low in memory
I'm trying to figure out if the new battery is faulty or if there could be something else causing the battery to charge the whole night and then die after half a day.
If I take out the charger while the phone is off it will keep lighting up and showing the charging battery animation even though it's not charging. If I try to turn it on while it's doing this then it won't turn on unless I put the charger back in.
I'm not sure if there's a way to test if it's the battery or something else though?

The word DEMO is visible in the center of the screen in a big red font at all times. It is there even when you play games or go to play store. The tab is not a floor model nor in demo mode.

I'm new to the android platform, and app development for it in general. On iOS, every app must ask for and confirm push notifications as required by apple, not necessarily the app. I have not noticed any apps that I've downloaded on my new Samsung phone prompting me if I want to receive push notifications, it just automatically registers me for them. Is this normal Android convention, to automatically register users for push notifications and they can disable them later? I am developing an Android application myself right now and i'm wondering.... Should I be prompting users and asking if they want them before I register them? Obviously it would be the polite thing to do to ask users permission before signing them up for push notifications. However, if that's not common practice I see no reason to potentially lose some receivers of them. Any insights / documentation to best practices for Android would be awesome.

I want to display the sender's name rather than their contact photo within a text message conversation. I don't have everyone's contact photograph memorized and I have multiple people with the same contact photograph. My old Android (version 4.0.4) did display the name within the conversation bubble, my new one (version 4.3) displays a small contact photograph next to the conversation bubble instead of the sender's name. One friend has some random cat wearing sunglasses as her contact photo....I certainly don't associate that with her and when she changes her contact photo then there will be some other random thing I don't associate with her. I would prefer to see her name rather than a random cat. For people who don't have a contact photo or for whom I don't have a photo, it displays a generic outline of a head.

I have configured Skype to display its contact list on the main People app, along with my phone contacts.
Some of them were automatically merged, for others I had to manually do it, but in the end every Skype contact was linked to its respective one on the phone.
(To better explain it, let's say that I have the contact details of two persons, Mr X and Miss Y, in both on my Google and Skype accounts. When I enabled Skype to display its contacts on the phone, the details of Mr X were automatically merged into a single contact linking the two accounts. But this not happened with Miss Y, that was displayed twice on the contact list, once for every account.)
Then I had to turn off the phone, and when I turned it on again all my work vanished: some Skype contacts were still merged, other were again splitted, so I had to manually merge them one more time.
Is there a way to keep contacts from various accounts united once I have merged them? And in the first place, what makes some of them to be automatically merged while others should be united manually?
I have a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 10, both running latest version of Lollipop. I just bought a H6400 series Samsung TV, which supports "Screen Mirroring" aka "AllCast" in Samsung terminology.
If I try to cast the screen from the Nexus 4, it just says connecting for ever and nothing happens.
Trying on the Nexus 10, it does connect but is quite laggy and often drops the connection. When it manages to keep the connection, the internet wifi speed on the 10 goes from 20MB/s to 0.2MB/s (using speedtest.new), which makes the internet unusable. This is with all devices (inc router) within about 3m radius.
I have an old 802.11bg WiFi router, so was going to upgrade that, but have found out that screen casting uses a direct WiFi connection between the device and TV, it doesn't use the WiFi router at all.
Does anyone know how to make it work with the 4? And with the 10, is the WiFi becoming unuseably slow a common problem or anyone have a fix?! Would upgrading my router to one that supports both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz help? i.e. can I run the screen casting over one freq, and the internet wifi over another one?

Whenever I try to turn on my WiFi, it shows "Turning WiFi on" but automatically turns off. I have not recently installed any app, and earlier it used to work absolutely fine. I even tried doing a factory reset but it's still not working. Not sure whether it's a software or hardware issue.

When I program in JavaScript, I use alert() for easy debugging. In Delphi, I change the Caption of the Form. In Android, I'm trying to do the following:

but I can't see the "0", as it only refreshes the screen in the end of the function (that's inside a button's onClick). All I see is the "1" after I press the button. I've read somewhere that the Invalidate is called automatically by the setText().

It's just something that I find pretty annoying and have no idea where it comes from. When someone add me to their contact list, it automatically add my old MSN email address (that I was using 10 years ago) in his contact info, instead of my gmail address. Why is that? Where is that address coming from? Why is google retrieving a MSN address instead of gmail? I haven't used this email in the past 5 years at least and this is not the email used by Facebook.
My tablet has a SIM card that gets data over AT&T's cell network. Once the connection gets going it works great, but connecting to the network takes about 5 minutes. This is strange because it only takes a few seconds for the tablet to determine that it can detect the network at full strength; it just takes a long time for the little "H" to show up next to the signal-strength icon, at which point data exchange can occur.
What can I do to accelerate this? I'm running CyanogenMod on a Nexus 7 2012 tablet.

Phone has an annoying notification sound that I cannot get rid of. Want to completely delete off my system if possible. I've gone into settings under Sound and it has a different sound than the one that plays. I have also changed to Apex Launcher and have no idea if that creates a problem. When I first heard about screen pinning in Lollipop, I though it would be perfect for making low-cost kiosks that use dedicated apps.
Here is the scenario I imagined: The admin would configure the device, then pin the app to be used. The user would be locked into using only the pinned app, and would not be able to lock themselves out of the device.
Each of the individual system buttons (back, home, overview) are disabled. Perfect. Pressing the back button gives instructions on how to exit the pinned app (hold back+overview).
It works well until the user tries to exit the app. Holding the back+overview buttons effectively locks the device, with no way to return to the app.
Also, the user is still allowed to power off the device while an app is pinned. Why?!
In conclusion...
Is there an out-of-the-box way of making a screen pinned app that will be feasible to use as a kiosk app?
Or do I need to take a programmatic approach and use something like Device Owner?

I noticed that my galaxy s3 sometimes show flickering on display when I am for example closing apps. I disabled HW overlays but it didn't help. I read that it can cause battery. My battery is fairly old (2 years) and Can withstand 3 hours surfing net and listening to music on 1200 mhz.
How it can be battery? It's giving low voltage to CPU/GPU and that's why is graphical rendering so bad?
Or it causes kernel? I have custom. I never had stock so I don't know if on the stock it's OK.

While android has some settings as far as disabling roaming completely, I would simply like to disable only calls (due to their expensive nature), and allow MMS/data via roaming - is there any way to do this?

I am running Android Revolution HD 52.0 custom ROM (Android 4.3) with Koush's superuser 1.0.3.0 on a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300.
In the hope of using some native shell applications on my phone for the purpose of backup and synchronization it with my GNU/Linux computers, I installed opkg from here: http://dan.drown.org/android/, and went on to install openssh and rsync. All of the new binaries are in /data/local/bin, and my own scripts are also in /data/local.
Using Jack Palevich's Android Terminal I am able to use rsync via ssh to push files onto my computers from my phone, but only when not logged in as root (ie when I haven't used the 'su' command).
When I run the scripts as root (after running su in the terminal emulator), I get the following error:
rsync: failed to exec ssh: Permission denied (13)
I get the same error message using adb shell + su.
The relevant line from the script is:

As I said, this operation (rsync put) works when using the script from Palevich's Terminal without su.
My questions are:
What is the problem? Is it about how Android assigns userids to processes? (As I understand it, new processes all run with their own userid. Is this what is happening here - is rsync not actually running as root, so it is not able to launch the ssh process as root either.) Or is something else going on? How could I troubleshoot this? I have tried running logcat, but don't know what I'm looking for.
What might the solution be with my current configuration?
I would like to run rysnc via ssh as root, as although it works in the terminal emulator without su, I am only able to push, not pull files that way, whereas I would hope as root that I could pull files too.
I use an app called Manga Rock on my android devices. It works great except that for some reason it disables my auto brightness on all of them, creating a very uncomfortable environment at night where its at full brightness. I have resorted to downloading another app to counteract this by dimming the screen, but things get confusing when I exit Manga Rock, as it becomes too dark to navigate, so its trial and error turning it off. Is there some way I can force auto brightness into an app?
my 5 year old had one for xmas and 3 days after starting to use it cut out and started to give messages such as unfortunatly launcher has stopped + unfortunatly system ui has stopped. he somehow managed to get into settings to hard reboot but i took it off him and powered down and now i cant use anything on there it loads but gives above messages . I have a Galaxy Nexus maguro and I updated from the stock 4.3 to the FML 5.0
I used Helium (Carbon) to backup all my app data on 4.3 but the restore didnt work on 5.0. Even Helium itself complained on 5.0.
So now I am back on 4.3, restore still doesnt work but I managed to get backup back manually (creating a dummy backup, substituting the dummy backup files with the real ones and then restoring the app datas)
So now I would like to know some reliable backup app in order to save all my app data from 4.3 to 5.0

When the device is set to use MTP, neither Windows, nor ADB will detect the device when connect via USB cable. I have tried multiple cables, in multiple USB ports. I have not tried other computers yet, as this is the only one that actually has the driver installed.

No one, except me, has reported this as an issue in the XDA thread.
I have been unable to get my PC to detect the device via USB since I first installed CM12, which was around 11/10/2015.
If i change to PTP, Windows will detect the device, as will ADB. But Windows will only let me access the internal storage, and Camera folders.
Cannot connect to server with my Android phone with Hangouts. Every other Google app works. SMS works but not Hangouts messages. All my other devices work with Hangouts messages.

I did a samsung update the other day and went from Nl1 to NJ5, i guess that is the update version. Does updating remove the unlocked bootloader? Do I need to factory reset to be able to install CF auto root and TWRP?

Short: As Chrome reopens the incognito pages/tabs after closing it (the browser, even after ending it in the "Active applications" list), how can one make sure those pages are forgotten by the phone?
Long: If an incognito page/tab is open and displayed in Chrome and Chrome is closed (by the home button), then Chrome remembers the page and shows it again next time Chrome is opened. As this can be unwanted (imagine visiting some website in incognito, then hours later opening the browser, let's say on a bus, and the incognito page is displayed again, for everyone to see, well at least the people standing/sitting behind you).
Ending Chrome in the active applications list does not change this behavior, neither clearing the Chrome app cache in the Application Manager. I found doing a "force stop" finally removes the traces (or at least does not show it when starting Chrome). Is there a simpler (official?) way to "forget" the incognito pages?
PS: It is similar with the Samsung Internet browser, except there not even "force stop" helps. (test on a Galaxy S3 with Android 4.3, Chrome 39.0.2171.93 , Internet 4.3-I9300XXUGNH4)

Last week I received an update on my nexus 5 for lollipop 5.0.1. Version 5.0 was working fine so I decided to just update. However a few hours after updating my phone started to lag and freeze so I decided to restart. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER....My phone is now stuck in a boot loop and I cant fix it. I don't know what to do I cant get pass the start up animation no matter what I do.
I've tried the fast boot commands and keep getting the error FAILED
I've tried the flash-all.bat file but the lock state goes back to LOCKED when it reboots the device and I get the error - not supported on lock device
I can unlock the device when I type 'fastboot oem unlock' but if the device is restarted it goes back to LOCKED.

I know how to mute the phone, including the media sound,
but I don't know how to mute the telephonic communication sound.
If I press the volume down button again and again while I am calling,
the magnitude of the communication sound goes to the minimum, which is not zero.
I want to mute the phone call conversation sound completely.
Is there any way to do that? I don't care whether the method requires rooting or not.
I had 2 Chromecast working just fine for a long time,one in the main network and the other in the second network in a room that is too far from the main router.
Then one day i disabled UPNP for security concerns and soon after I realized chromecast needed it and enabled it again, however i was never able to set up it again
I tried using many phones like Galaxy S4, RAZR D3, iPhone 6, Windows 7 PC, I tried resetting the Chromecast to factory defaults many times without success, then I tried the other Chromecast and reset it to factory defaults and could not set up it either, so the problem is on my network.

My router is a TP-LINK TL-WR941ND my firmware is up to date(3.15.9 for V5 hardware) it is connected to another modem that just run as a bridge and nat disabled if i remember right I don't think it is a problem it with it.
I also tried moving the Chromecast to a TV that is right next to my router, still get can't see the chromecast on your network.
I also tried to give the Chromecast a permanent static ip, and port forward it using virtual servers on my router 2-65535 UDP and 2-65535 TCP but still setup won't complete
I don't know what more I can do other than just trash this stupid chromecast and back to see all my series on laptop.
Sometimes i'm able to cast my tab from a little time after a failed setup but then soon it will say 'no chromecast found', my pc runs comodo firewall however it was not giving me any problem and i tried to setup it with it disabled.
If you need any more info just ask it, i can run wireshark and send some prints if this can help too.
I want to use my Alcatel One Touch Fierce (Android 4.1 I think) to connect to a larger touch screen monitor because the phone has too small a screen to use for my app. It will be used specifically with Roco Z21 Train Control for my model railroad which unfortunately does not have a windows version, only Apple or Android. I see lots of ways to use your phone as an extension for windows, but I need to go the otherway and use the phone to send the app and use the app on the LARGE touch screen monitor.....any help?

There seems to be an issue occurring with mobile browser apps on Android and iPhone being redirected to advertising sites. This is interrupting the browsing experience.
The problem:
Many users have reported this, both on the Chrome product forum and on the Apple forums, (links in the pastebin below) but nobody seems to understand what is actually occurring. People are doing unnecessary factory resets on their phones and complaining to various webmasters about the ads on their forums.
The behavior can be replicated in a desktop browser by changing the User-Agent to a Nexus 4 and reloading a forum thread on a website (eg. xda-developers) until an offending ad appears.
Since I can't create more than two links here without gaining more reputation, you can find some useful content in this pastebin .
Can anybody provide advice on how to suppress these redirects, without resorting to a non-stock browser?
When I connected my XT1033 (Moto G) to my computer in MTP mode, I was unable to access the contents of the internal storage in write mode. I was unable to create any folders, delete files, rename etc.
As part of trouble shooting, I attempted to connect XT1022 (Moto E) to the same port in MTP mode, I was able to access the internal storage and its SD card normally.
Puzzled with this behaviour, I connected my XT1033 again but this time in PTP mode and I was able to access DCIM folder normally.
I tried the same with another Samsung Galaxy Duos phone and it too worked properly.
When I attempted to create a folder in Computer\XT1033\Internal storage\Download in my XT1033 (in PTP mode) I get the following error:
The new folder could not be created in this location. The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected
I am able to connect to the device thorough ADB and tested the following:

Environment: XT1033 (Moto G) rooted, running stock 4.4.4 Computer running Windows 7 x64.

The soft keys on my Samsung Galaxy S4 no longer vibrate when I press them. The haptic feedback is on, and it used to work fine.
I have a Straight talk Samsung S4. Currently I am thinking of getting a LG G2(AT&T) and was wondering if anyone knew if they may provide the same amount of signal or hopefully LG would be better. I am wanting a different phone for better development options.
So, I'm new to Android but I came to the conclusion that on 4.2.2, the Camera app doesn't exist as such and is actually part of the Gallery app package.
Now my problem is it isn't possible to change the default camera location (the option just doesn't exist for some Android versions or devices, that doesn't seem to be documented anywhere) and I can't seem to find a way to move the Gallery app pictures storage location to an SD card for example.
Do I have to switch to a third party camera+gallery app which will allow this option, or is there another solution (other than copying the files via the File System Manager on a regular basis, thus making said photos disappear from the gallery)?

Dropped my Samsung Note 2, screen is completely black. The phone opens & touch screen seems to be only partly responsive because i can see the white previous & menu icons appear on the lower half of the phone. I want to access the internal storage of the phone and store it in a different Note 2. How can i do that?
I have a simple app containing a switch button (on/off) and a code which shows the current gps coordinates. I can't seems to combine those two. I want the locationmanager/listener will only operate while the switch is on 'on' mode. Any ideas ?

As far as I know, LiIon batteries should be kept in about 40%-80% range in order to degrade more slowly.
On my laptop I use the following commands to make it change battery conditionally, only when it's lower than 45% and up to 90% instead of to 100%:

Not sure what all I am doing incorrectly but any help would be great to solve this issue so that I can upload my own ROM using modded recovery for my Verizon Galaxy Note 2.
