Ever since updating to Android 5.0 I've been unable to connect to my phone via ADB. I've rooted it multiple times on 4.4.4 and previous versions using both WugFresh Nexus Toolkit and manually downloading the files and opening up a command prompt in the folder.
When I plug in my phone and no storage protocols are selected, (no MTP or PTP selected) my device doesn't show up at all on my computer in the devices regardless of whether USB debugging is on or off. As soon as I turn one on it is recognized. I restored to factory settings last night, uninstalled all of my android, google, samsung, adb, etc. drivers and and uninstalled the device itself, rebooted, reinstalled the Google drivers and plugged the drvice back in, and tried to connect via ADB; no luck. Rinse and repeat two times using different USB ports (2.0 and 3.0) and cords and the same result occurred. Also, my phone is still unlocked from previous roots and that setting has remained static even through multiple factory resets. My computer also has debugging authorization.
I used to have a USB charging mod called MSI Super Charger that came bundled with my MOBO installation software which I uninstalled before taking the above steps. I saw that USB mods cause issues but it has been uninstalled and the computer rebooted after uninstallation so I can't see why it would cause any issues.
When I try to do adb devices it detects nothing so I'm unable to root or flash to my phone, but I still do have access to the storage. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 and all of my drivers and windows updates are current. Again, I have used the same exact usb ports and cords that I'm using currently to root my phone in the past. This issue has only started since updating to the Lollipop 5.0 OTA (I was able to root the developer preview of 5.0), and the issue is persisting in 5.0.1. If there's something I'm missing here I'd be very grateful for any help. Thanks
