Android default keyboard stopping working?

So I have a samsung galaxy s5 running KitKat 4.4.2.

I recently bought a selfie stick (don't laugh) and since I've paired it once it now shoes up in the "physical keyboard" section under language and input.

I don't have swype or anything installed (I don't think?). I just use the default samsung keyboard's "continuous input" method to do the swipey text thing.

Anyway, since I have had the selfie stick, my default samsung keyboard stops working. By this I mean I can still type fine, but the "continuous input" swipey text thing is not working, and the little autocorrect words that pop up as you type (at the bar at the top of the keyboard) are not there.

I can solve this problem by restarting, but after a minute or so, a quick dialogue box pops up (I can't catch what it says), the keyboard disappears and reappears almost instantly, and the autocorrect words are gone and so is the swipey text feature.

Help!
