How to open arbitrary filesystem file using stock Gallery app?

I would like to know whether it is possible to open an arbitrary filesystem image file with the stock Gallery app (as distributed with the Samsung Galaxy SIII). It seems to me that the only places it allows its users to select files from are the filesystem folders found under /storage/emulated/0/DCIM (normal pictures), the filesystem folders found under /storage/emulated/0/Pictures (screenshots), and other albums taken from Google Picasa Web.

Anyone know if there's a way to configure the stock Gallery app to display arbitrary pics taken from any filesystem location?
