Are Android games and apps auto screen resizeable?

By auto screen resizeable I mean that lets say I have a game which runs perfectly on HTC Wildfire S (screen dimensions: 320x480; Android:2.3.5).

Can I install the exact same game .apk file on Samsung Nexus S (Screen dimensions:480x800 ; Android: 4.0)?

Will the same game file which I installed on HTC wildfire S run perfectly on Nexus S?

or do I have to install another .apk file of that game for Nexus S?
